Invest NI welcomes progress on the Belfast Region City Deal

Kevin Holland, Chief Executive of Invest NI, today welcomed the signing of the Belfast Region City Deal.

Kevin said “The formal signing of the Belfast Region City Deal is an important milestone of this major investment package for the Belfast region.

“Funding secured under this deal will deliver investment in innovation, digital and physical infrastructure.  The deal will accelerate inclusive economic growth, skills development and contribute significantly to economic recovery and sustained growth, not only in the Belfast region, but also across Northern Ireland. 

“It also provides the opportunity to increase investment in key clusters aligned to the Department for the Economy’s 10X Economic Vision, and where the region already has recognised global capabilities. These clusters include Life and Health Sciences, Advanced Manufacturing, Cyber Security, Artificial Intelligence, and Virtual Production.

“I would like to commend the six councils - Belfast City Council, Antrim & Newtownabbey Borough Council, Ards & North Down Borough Council, Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, Mid & East Antrim Borough Council, Newry, Mourne & Down District Council and partners, for all of their hard work so far. Invest NI is keen to continue to work in partnership with all of the key stakeholders involved so that together we can ensure that the transformational potential of this deal is maximised to drive growth, job creation and deliver significant economic benefits.”
