About the trade mission

Invest Northern Ireland is planning a trade mission to explore the vast opportunities North America and Canada have to offer businesses from Northern Ireland in September 2024. 
 
Offering companies an exciting programme of export-led activity including 1:1 and group meetings with potential customers and partners, the mission will be led by Economy Minister Conor Murphy.   

Why Chicago? 

  • Chicago has a diverse economy, the third-largest GDP in the US and is home to 30+ Fortune 500 companies, including Walgreens, Caterpillar, State Farm Insurance, Allstate, Northern Trust, and Aon. 
  • Chicago has the third highest employment in the finance and insurance sector. The region's economic diversity and need for financial products has evolved fintech into one of Chicago's fastest growing tech verticals.  
  • The region is also a leader in food & drink manufacturing, innovation & technology, life sciences and transport and logistics 

Why Toronto? 

  • The Toronto region is a global economic powerhouse, with the most diverse economy in North America 
  • Toronto is a vital financial and technological hub, boasting the third-largest tech sector in North America 
  • The region is also a leader in sectors such as food processing, financial services, energy, and life and health sciences.  Additional, sector strengths include manufacturing, digital, and research and development.

The trade mission is suitable for: 

  • Innovative businesses within who wish to gain access to the North American and or Canadian market
  • Businesses established in market who wish to increase export sales in the region
  • Businesses across all sectors but particularly those operating in:

    • Life and health sciences
