Our support allows businesses to remotely access advice and expertise in managing and implementing resource efficiency projects. We will fund a bespoke energy and/or resource efficiency project, appointing a specialist consultant to help deliver specific projects such as assessing process efficiency and plant, examining heat recovery and infrastructures or evaluating electrical supply optimisation.
You can choose from one or more of the nine specialist areas the support is delivered under:
- Efficient technology processing systems
Efficient technology processes which reduce business consumption of energy, water and materials. For example, manufacturing systems, equipment, and digital technology. - Energy management and efficiency
Mechanical and electrical systems associated with buildings and manufacturing equipment. For example, refrigeration systems, compressed air systems, energy management systems, heat recovery, combined heat and power, lighting technologies, HVAC systems, energy metering and process heating. - Investigation of new technologies
New and emerging energy or resource efficient technologies. For example, energy storage, fuel cells, second generation biomass, and enabling technologies that reduce consumption and costs associated with energy and resources. - Packaging solutions
Design solutions for eco packaging. For example, light weighting, transit packaging and packaging innovations that can deliver cost savings from reduced use of materials, recycled content, or less packaging waste. - Renewable technology systems
All types of renewable energy systems including wind, marine, bioenergy and hydro energy. - Resource efficiency and waste management systems
For example, waste management, environmental management, circular economy (a system aimed at eliminating waste and the continual use of resources), cost neutral solutions, water efficiency, effluent treatment systems and rainwater harvesting. - Standards, Accreditations and Systems
For example, specific product and/or process accreditations, corporate responsibility and corporate carbon pressures within the supply chain, environmental management systems, energy management systems, circular economy (a system aimed at eliminating waste and the continual use of resources)and carbon management. - Sustainable Business Collaborations
Includes assessments to establish the feasibility of business collaborations. For example, circular economy projects, micro-generation within hubs, such as industrial estates, for shared use of local heat and power generation. - Transport and Logistics Efficiency
Efficiencies relating to the transport and distribution of raw materials and manufactured products. For example, efficient route planning, back haulage, void space, driving training in efficiency, vehicle aerodynamics and alternative fuels such as bio-fuels, electric and hydrogen.
Projects funded under the Energy and Resource Consultancy support include:
- Developing robust business cases for individual projects
- Managing the process to purchase and install new equipment
- Defining equipment and/or process specifications
- Identifying suppliers of goods and services
- Collaborative efforts with other businesses in your area around energy
